Register nowAll H0-scale models of the BR 218 at a glance: the DB universal diesel locomotive of the V160 family in 1:87 scale. For more than four decades the backbone of German passenger and regional services on non-electrified lines — in Ozeanblau-Beige, Orientrot, Verkehrsrot and many special liveries.
The BR 218 is the most numerous member of the V160 family and was built from 1968 as a universal diesel locomotive for the Deutsche Bundesbahn. With 411 units, it shaped passenger and freight services on non-electrified main lines for four decades. Its versatility (140 km/h, electric train heating, MTU engine) made it the defining DB diesel locomotive of Eras IV to VI. Märklin/Trix, Roco, Piko, Brawa and Fleischmann offer a very broad model range in H0 scale.
Especially popular are the Ozeanblau-Beige livery (Era IV), Orientrot, Verkehrsrot (Era V) and the light grey/orange livery. Special models such as "Conny", the TUI and Hertha advertising locomotives, and the Sylt-Shuttle double-traction livery are highly sought after by collectors.
