Trix

Trix is the sister brand of Märklin and offers model railways in the direct-current (DC) two-rail system. The brand has its origins in the 1930s and has been part of the Märklin group since 1997. With 2.079 H0 models, the range covers locomotives and wagons to the usual high standard.

Many Trix models are technically identical to their Märklin counterparts — they use the same bodies and detailing but are engineered for the two-rail DC system. This makes Trix the first choice for DC modelers who value Märklin quality. The models support DCC digital decoders and are frequently available with sound.

The range covers German, Austrian, Swiss and international prototypes. From historic steam locomotives to the modern ICE 4, Trix offers a fitting model for almost every era and every taste.

Buying Trix H0 models — guide and tips

Trix is the DC sister brand of Märklin and offers models in the DC two-rail system. If you value Märklin quality but run a DC layout, Trix has the right models for you. Bodies and detailing are usually identical to the Märklin counterparts.

Trix vs. Märklin — the system difference

The only real difference lies in the power system: Märklin uses AC (alternating current, center-rail), Trix uses DC (direct current, two-rail). Trix models are therefore compatible with track from Roco, Fleischmann, Piko and Tillig. The DCC decoders in Trix locomotives can be controlled with any common DCC command station.

Popular Trix models

Particularly sought after are the Class 103, the ICE 4, the Class 44 steam locomotive and the V 200 diesel locomotive. Trix also offers exclusive special models for the Trix Club, which are highly prized by collectors.
