Register nowAll H0 models of the Rheingold at a glance: the legendary luxury train of Mitropa and the Deutsche Bundesbahn in 1:87 scale. From the historic Era II Rheingold stock (1928, violet/cream) and the DB Rheingold of Era IV (1962, blue/cream) to the late-Era IV TEE Rheingold — a collector's icon of German model railways.
The Rheingold is one of Europe's most famous luxury trains. Introduced by Mitropa in 1928, it linked Hook of Holland with Basel and later Geneva — using specialised saloon and dining cars in a distinctive violet and cream livery. The Deutsche Bundesbahn relaunched the train in 1962 with completely new stock in the iconic blue-and-cream livery. In 1965 the Rheingold became part of the TEE (Trans-Europ-Express) network. In H0 scale the Rheingold is a classic at Märklin/Trix, Roco, Liliput, Fleischmann, A.C.M.E. and L.S.Models.
Typical models include the historic Rheingold cars of Era II (the 1928 stock with saloon, dining and observation cars), the DB Rheingold of Era IV (the 1962 stock with observation, bar, dining and compartment cars) and the TEE Rheingold of the late Era IV. Complete coach sets are bestsellers — depending on the era, suitable motive power includes the Bavarian S 3/6, Class 18 or the DB E 10.12 / E 10.13.
