H0 Direct Current (DC) – The two-rail system
The direct current (DC) system is the most widespread system worldwide in H0 scale. Power is supplied via two rails – one carries the positive pole, the other the negative pole. The DC system is supported by the majority of European and American manufacturers and offers the largest selection of models.
Manufacturers and digital
Among the most important DC manufacturers are Roco, Fleischmann, Piko, Brawa, Trix, Liliput, Rivarossi and Jouef. The digital standard in the DC system is DCC (Digital Command Control), supported by command stations such as the Roco z21, Piko SmartControl and ESU ECoS. Many models are factory-equipped with a DCC decoder and sound. The DC system is particularly suited to international model railway themes, as it is compatible across manufacturers.
