Register nowAll H0 models of the Krokodil at a glance: the legendary articulated locomotive in 1:87 scale. From the Swiss SBB Ce 6/8 II and Ce 6/8 III through to the Austrian ÖBB Class 1189 and the Bavarian E 91 — the distinctive elongated end sections and central body make the Krokodil one of the most iconic model railway locomotives ever made.
The "Krokodil" is not a single class but a whole family of articulated electric locomotives with characteristically elongated end sections and a central cab structure. The most famous representatives are the Swiss SBB Krokodil (Ce 6/8 II and Ce 6/8 III, built 1919–1927) and the Austrian ÖBB Class 1189. In H0 scale, Märklin is the historic manufacturer — the 1933 Märklin Krokodil (model CCS 66/12920) is one of the best-known model railway locomotives in the world. Today's models are produced by Märklin/Trix, Roco, HAG, Piko and Liliput.
Typical models include the SBB Ce 6/8 II in brown and green liveries, the more powerful Ce 6/8 III, the ÖBB Class 1189 as well as the DB E 91 (Bavarian Krokodil) and the DB E 94 (German Krokodil). Most models are set in Era II or III, but many have also been re-issued as anniversary and special editions in Era IV/V. Use the filters to search specifically by manufacturer, current system or era.
