Ikarus models
Ikarus of Budapest equipped half the Eastern Bloc with buses: the elegant 55 ("cigar"), the 66 and the omnipresent 260/280 shaped public transport from Budapest to Berlin. An overview of around 140 model cars of the Ikarus brand.
Budapest's contribution to public transport
On East German layouts the articulated Ikarus 280 is THE city bus – as natural in DR surroundings as IFA and Trabant. The rear-engined 55 in turn brings 1950s elegance to interurban traffic. Thus the brand covers the whole bus service of the Eastern Bloc.
Brekina carries the classic series in many operator variants. For Hungarian layouts Ikarus is the first choice anyway – hardly any brand fits the MÁV scene better.
