Register nowAll H0-scale models of the BR 232 at a glance: the heavy diesel locomotive of Soviet origin — affectionately called "Ludmilla" by model railroaders — in 1:87 scale. From the DR class 132/142 to the DB AG take-over and today's private-operator 232s, in DR, DB AG and numerous private liveries.
The BR 232 — originally designated class 132 by the DR — was delivered from Lugansk in the Soviet Union to the Deutsche Reichsbahn from 1973 onwards. 709 units made it the backbone of heavy passenger and freight services in East Germany. After reunification, many engines continued at DB AG as BR 232, while the nickname "Ludmilla" remained. Roco, Piko, Brawa and Märklin/Trix offer extensive models in H0 scale.
Sought-after are the original DR Bordeaux red livery (Era IV), the DB liveries Orientrot and Verkehrsrot (Eras V/VI) and the current private-operator schemes of ITL, EVB, Lokomotion and many more. The sister classes 233, 234 and 241 (re-engined with Caterpillar) are also available as models. Filter by manufacturer, era or DCC sound.
