Few vehicles belong to a station forecourt as naturally as a taxi. Waiting cabs outside the station or a taxi rank on the high street instantly bring everyday life to an H0 layout – and they anchor the scene in an era: in Germany, taxis were mostly black until the 1970s, when the typical light ivory livery took over.
The range of models is correspondingly wide: classics such as the Citroën DS and the Mercedes-Benz generations from the tail-fin era to the S-Class stand alongside modern minivan cabs on VW bus basis, plus international variants such as Scandinavian Volvo taxis.
The most important manufacturers of 1:87 taxi models are Wiking, Busch, Brekina, Herpa, AWM and Rietze.
