The BR 216 (pre-1968: V160) was built from 1964 as the original universal diesel locomotive of the V160 family. 224 units with 1,900 hp and 120 km/h hauled passenger and freight trains on non-electrified main lines — as the direct predecessor of the BR 218 without electric train heating. Märklin/Trix, Roco, Piko, Brawa and Fleischmann offer H0 models of the 216 in all liveries.
Highly sought are the DB Altrot livery (Era III/IV), Ozeanblau-Beige, Orientrot and the Verkehrsrot of DB Cargo (Era V). The numerous private-operator schemes of haulage and shunting locomotives are also popular. Filter by manufacturer, era or DCC sound.
