The BR 189 was developed from 2002 by Siemens as the ES 64 F4 (EuroSprinter four-system) — the direct predecessor of today's Vectron family. 100 units were operated by DB Cargo, with another 90 multi-system locomotives for numerous private operators on cross-border services to Italy, Poland, Czechia and the Netherlands. Märklin/Trix, Piko, Roco and Brawa offer H0 models of the 189 in all liveries with the characteristic four pantographs.
Highly sought are the DB Cargo Verkehrsrot livery, the MRCE schemes in black and advertising versions (Hupac, Crossrail), the ITL, Captrain and Lokomotion liveries and the Polish PKP Cargo (EU45) variants. Filter by manufacturer, era or DCC sound.
