Register nowThe Barkas B1000 was the van of the GDR – as a Volkspolizei panel van, ambulance of the emergency medical service or company minibus. Around 160 models in 1:87 cover all roles. An overview of the model cars of the Barkas brand.
With front-wheel drive and two-stroke engine the B1000 was technically ahead of its time – and in service almost unchanged from 1961 to 1990. On DR layouts it belongs in front of every Kaufhalle, as an SMH vehicle outside the polyclinic and as a small fire engine in every village.
Busch and Brekina carry the B1000 in dozens of variants. Together with IFA, Trabant and Wartburg it completes the East German vehicle fleet.
