Register nowBarely bigger than a fingernail: at 1:87 the Smart is one of the smallest car models there is. The 145 models in the catalogue cover the Fortwo above all – as a coupé, a cabrio and an electric version – plus the older City Coupé and the Roadster. Almost all of them come from Busch, which has been reissuing the range in ever new liveries for years. Back to the model cars overview.
On a layout the Smart works as a date stamp: place one and you have fixed the scene to era V or VI – the range went on sale in 1998. In a street scene its shortness stands out; two Smarts fit sideways into one parking space, which is easy to stage at 8.7 millimetres of model length.
Besides the standard colours there are numerous special editions and advertising liveries – from the "Gold-Smart" through colour-design studies to vehicles with a snow plough. The Fortwo Electric covers the current electric variant, the Roadster the short-lived sports version built from 2003 to 2006.
The Smart belongs with the cars and vans; for placing it in time, see the era overview.
