The BR 185 is the DB designation for the Bombardier TRAXX 2 and was developed from 2000 as the successor to the 152. Over 400 units were built and operated by DB Cargo, ITL, Lokomotion, Captrain, MRCE and numerous other operators. The 185.2 variant (multi-system) extends the operating area to Switzerland and the Netherlands. Märklin/Trix, Piko, Roco and Brawa offer H0 models of the 185 in an extraordinarily large selection of liveries.

Highly sought are the DB Cargo Verkehrsrot livery (Era V/VI), the ITL, Lokomotion, Captrain, MRCE and ELL schemes and numerous DB Cargo advertising locos (e.g. "Klimaschutz", "Brücken bauen").
