Register nowAll H0-scale models of Union Pacific at a glance: the largest US Class-1 railroad by route mileage in 1:87 scale. With the legendary "Armour Yellow" livery, the Heritage Fleet program honouring its predecessors and the restored Big Boy 4014, UP is one of the most prestigious operators in North America.
Union Pacific Railroad is, with over 32,100 route miles, the second-largest Class-1 railroad in the US (the largest by mileage). Founded in 1862 as the eastern half of the first transcontinental railroad, it operates main lines between the West Coast and the Mississippi as well as into Mexico. Its fleet includes more than 8,000 locomotives from EMD and GE. In H0 scale, Athearn and ScaleTrains dominate the UP range, supplemented by Walthers and Rapido.
The iconic yellow-grey "Armour Yellow" livery with hood stripes dates back to the 1930s and has been the standard UP scheme ever since. In 2005 UP launched the Heritage Fleet program: six SD70ACe units were painted in the historic schemes of predecessors MP, WP, SP, SF, MKT and CNW — collector favourites in any UP collection. The Spirit units ("We Will Deliver", "Powered by Our People") are also popular.
EMD diesels: SD70ACe, SD70M, SD9043MAC, SD40-2, GP40-2. GE diesels: ES44AC, ET44AC, AC4400CW. Steam: the restored Big Boy 4014 (returned to service in 2019) and Challenger 3985 as excursion engines. Filter by manufacturer, class or DCC sound.
