Gützold

Gützold is a tradition-rich manufacturer from Saxony, specialised in locomotives of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR/GDR). The Leisnig-based company made a name for itself in the GDR era and continues after German reunification to produce models focused on East German prototypes. The range comprises 328 H0 models.

Gützold is particularly known for its detailed reproductions of DR steam and diesel locomotives — including Class 65.10, Class 75, V 180 and V 200. These models are highly sought after by collectors of Eras III and IV of the Deutsche Reichsbahn, as they reproduce prototypes often not covered by the big West German manufacturers.

Gützold models stand out for solid construction and authentic detailing. For modellers running a layout with a GDR or Reichsbahn theme, Gützold is an indispensable brand.

Buying Gützold H0 models — guide and tips

Gützold models use the DC system (direct current) and can be digitized with DCC decoders. The brand specialises in locomotives of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR), serving a niche for modellers with a GDR and Reichsbahn theme.

DR prototypes in H0

Gützold offers steam and diesel locomotives often not covered by the big West German manufacturers: Class 65.10, Class 75, V 180 and V 200. These models are particularly sought after by collectors of Eras III and IV of the Deutsche Reichsbahn.

Combining Gützold models

Gützold locomotives combine ideally with Tillig or Piko wagons to assemble authentic DR trains. Busch car models with GDR vehicles (Trabant, Wartburg, IFA) also fit thematically perfectly.
