Register nowAll H0-scale models of Canadian Pacific Railway at a glance: the second major Canadian Class-1 railroad in 1:87 scale. Founded in 1881 as the transcontinental link from Montreal to Vancouver, CP is today — following the 2023 merger to CPKC (Canadian Pacific Kansas City) — the only single-line Class-1 railroad reaching from Canada through the US into Mexico. Distinctive "Action Red" livery with the Beaver Shield logo.
Canadian Pacific Railway was founded in 1881 to connect British Columbia by rail to the eastern provinces — and has shaped Canadian railway history ever since. In 2023 CP merged with Kansas City Southern to form Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC), creating for the first time a Class-1 railroad that operates a single network across the entire North American continent from Canada through the US to Mexico. Network: 20,000 miles. Core traffic: container services from the port of Vancouver, grain from the Prairies, petroleum, intermodal services Mexico–Canada. In H0 scale, Rapido dominates the CP range, supplemented by Athearn.
The "Action Red" livery with the modernised 1968 Beaver Shield logo has been unmistakable for decades — bold red with white lettering. Earlier came the Tuscan Red livery of the CP steam era and the CP Rail Multimark scheme (1968–1996). Since the CPKC merger in 2023, locomotives are receiving the new CPKC livery combining Action Red with yellow CPKC lettering. Collectors particularly seek heritage units in Multimark and Tuscan liveries.
