The BR 41 was developed from 1937 as a heavy universal fast-freight locomotive of the Reichsbahn standard-class construction. With a 2-8-2 wheel arrangement, two cylinders and 90 km/h, it could handle both fast freight and passenger trains. 366 units shaped mixed traffic at DRG, DR and DB. In East Germany, they were rebuilt from 1957 as the BR 41.10 with a new high-performance boiler and combustion chamber. Märklin/Trix, Roco, Brawa and Liliput offer H0 models of all variants.
Highly sought are the DRG original with Wagner deflectors (Era II), the post-war Witte-deflector variant (Era III/IV), the oil-fired versions and the spectacular DR rebuild BR 41.10 with the coal-fired 41.0 variant. Filter by manufacturer, era or DCC sound.
