BN H0 Models
All H0-scale models of Burlington Northern Railroad at a glance: the major US Class-1 railroad from 1970 to 1995 in 1:87 scale. Formed in 1970 from the merger of the "Big Four" (CB&Q, GN, NP, SP&S), BN operated the network in the northwest United States and revolutionised the coal trains from the Powder River Basin. Distinctive "Cascade Green" livery with white lettering. In 1995, BN merged with Santa Fe to form BNSF.
BN H0 Models – The Cascade Green Class-1 (1970–1995)
Burlington Northern Railroad came into being on 2 March 1970 through the merger of Chicago, Burlington & Quincy (CB&Q), Great Northern (GN), Northern Pacific (NP) and Spokane, Portland & Seattle (SP&S) — the largest railroad merger up to that point in US history. The 25,000-route-mile network stretched from the Great Lakes to the Pacific coast and down to Texas. BN pioneered the modern coal trains from the Powder River Basin in Wyoming. In 1995, BN merged with Santa Fe to form BNSF Railway. In H0 scale, Athearn dominates the BN range, supplemented by Walthers and Rapido.
BN Liveries – Cascade Green
The iconic "Cascade Green" livery with white BN lettering and black underframe is one of the most recognisable US railroad schemes. From 1970, all locomotives received this unified scheme, replacing the brand identities of the predecessor railroads. Notable variants include: "Whiteface" (locos with white front, from 1990), the "Centennial" advertising units (BN 100 years, 1980) and the former predecessor locos repainted in BN Cascade Green. Collectors seek pre-merger CB&Q, GN and NP heritage liveries.

EMD diesels: SD40-2 (massive order), SD60M, SD9043MAC, GP38-2, GP50, GP9. GE diesels: B30-7AB, Dash 8-40BW, Dash 9-44CW. Numerous F-units (F7, F9), GP7, GP9 and SD9 inherited from the predecessor railroads were also re-lettered in Cascade Green. Filter by manufacturer, class or DCC sound.
