With a top speed of 200 km/h and the iconic "diadem" front, it hauled DB TEE and IC trains from 1965 — for more than three decades the flagship of German express services in TEE red, Orientrot and Verkehrsrot.
Built from 1965 by Henschel/Krauss-Maffei/Krupp/Siemens, the BR 103 became the flagship of the Deutsche Bundesbahn as a 200 km/h express locomotive. 145 units hauled TEE trains and later Intercity and EuroCity services — from the "Rheingold" to the "Hispania-Express". With its distinctive "diadem" front, the trademark of DB express locomotives, it became an icon of German passenger services from Era IV to VI. Märklin/Trix, Roco, Piko and Brawa offer a very wide H0 range.
Highly sought are the TEE livery Bordeauxrot-Beige (Era IV), Orientrot, Verkehrsrot, the IR livery (pastel blue/turquoise) and the special liveries — such as 103 220 "Lufthansa Airport Express", 103 226 "Märklin-Werbelok" and 103 245 as "IC-Werbelok". Filter by manufacturer, era or DCC sound.
