The BR 120 was developed from 1979 as the first three-phase universal electric locomotive for mainline use — a global technical first that shaped the drive systems of all modern electric locomotives (152, 185, 189, 193). The five pre-series machines 120.0 tested three-phase technology from 1979, followed by 60 series locomotives 120.1 from 1987 for IC and EC services. Märklin/Trix, Roco and Piko offer H0 models of the 120 in all liveries.
Highly sought are the five pre-series locos 120 001-005 in original livery, the series Orientrot (Era IV), the Verkehrsrot DB AG livery and advertising locomotives such as "120 in Bonn" and special schemes like 120 159. Filter by manufacturer, era or DCC sound.
